To most people the only noticeable difference is cost, but it does run a little deeper than that...
Genuine (Original / OEM)
A genuine ink cartridge is produced by your printer manufacturer. While genuine ink cartridges (only when used conjunction with original papers) can often give the best results for long-lasting photographic prints the cost is often very high compared to the compatible alternative. While Genuine cartridges are more expensive, there is still a large fluctuation in pricing that occurs, you will however be hard pressed to find lower prices than ours.
Compatible (Generic)
A compatible ink cartridge is a brand new cartridge (not refilled or remanufactured) produced by a third party manufacturer. A much cheaper alternative to the genuine branded product, if you want to save money your printing costs, compatible ink cartridges will defiantly help you achieve this. You will get the
same amount of ink and the
same number of pages with our compatible cartridges as you would get from a genuine.
Our compatibles are manufactured to the highest international quality and environmental standards, and are sold with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. They will not damage your printer.
Remanufactured
Remanufactured cartridges are a previously used Genuine cartridge, which has been collected through recycling programs, cleaned, refilled and e-tested by a third party manufacturer. Cartridges are offered as remanufactured where the production of a compatible is not allowed (due to either copyright laws on design or inability to produce, from new, certain components such as embedded microchips) As you would expect, remanufactured cartridges are cheaper than new genuine original cartridges and still perform the same as a compatible cartridge. Like all cartridges we sell, they are sold with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
*Please note that for website usability reasons we refer to all non-genuine cartridges (compatible & remanufactured cartridges) simply as "Compatible" If you specifically require a certain type please contact us prior to your purchase.
Printer Warranty?
Don't be bullied by big manufactures! Despite
their
claims, using compatible / generic ink cartridges in your printer WILL NOT void its warranty. The
Trade Practices Act (TPA) states it is against Australian law for a printer manufacturer to limit consumers to a specific type of cartridge. There's
no excuse to waste money on expensive genuine supplies now!
Please contact the ACCC if you are having problems with a printer company
honoring
your warranty under these circumstances.
